I Graduated from the HCS Teacher Leadership Program…

I Graduated from the HCS Teacher Leadership Program…

One of the major bright spots of teaching during a COVID year is having the opportunity to focus on professional development and finding new ways to take my teaching and leadership capacity to the next level. I am so proud that I was able to complete the Teacher Leadership Program coursework in one year instead of two. Yay me!!!! 🙂

I Won Teacher of the Year…

In what I thought would be one of the toughest teaching years of my life, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I won “Teacher of the Year” at Bethel High School (Hampton, Virginia). What a way to complete my 19th year of teaching.

I Met a Hidden Figure…

Today, I literally got to sit in the same room as Mrs. Katherine Johnson. How many people have had the opportunity to stand within two feet of a living legend? There are no words. Happy 101st Birthday Mrs. Katherine Johnson. You are my hero. #hiddenfigures

I’m so psyched. I had the amazing opportunity to meet Erin Gruwell from the Freedom Writer’s Foundation. She even autographed my book. How amazing is that?
